The biggest problem with feminism right now is that men see it as an assertion that women are somehow better than men. Old-school feminism simply says, a la John Stuart Mill, that now woman should be prevented from doing that which she is capable of simply on the basis of her womanhood. But feminism has turned into this weird victim mentality, blame all men, especially transmen, woe is me and I'm better than you crap. That's not the feminism I signed up for.
no women, not now women. Sorry, typo.
(transmen are not men!example, why were so many at the 'choice cunts' lesbian party in nyc the other night?)I do agree that those are the MAJOR reasons girls are transitioning in vast numbers
Anon27,Strange, never heard of that brand of feminism, sounds like totally bullshit to me and clearly not feminism.dirt
So, feminism is hating men in any form they come in? Bio and trans?
The blacklash of feminism is that young people are scared to be marked as a feminist. Anon27 said "feminism has turned into this weird victim mentality, blame all men, especially transmen, woe is me and I'm better than you crap." That is some of what people stereotype feminism as. So it assumed that feminsism is a bad thing. There are so many different kinds of feminist. People cannot seem to grasp that not all feminist believe in the same stuff. For instance their are anti-porn feminist and pro-porn feminist. Not all feminist agree with every issue. There are feminist who believe in transmen.
The proof is in the puddin, that a female may "call" herself a "feminist" is neither here nor there, if she supports or condones violence against women, in whatever form that takes, its common sense to assume she is a "feminist" in name only.dirt
If that is the case, should women studies books with articles by transgender people be taken out of curriculums at schools?
Oh I know, I got it...How about every woman hate men and then there will be no more children in the world and we can just destroy our very own existence??? Makes sense to me!
@Anon March 29, 2011 11:23 PM"Not all feminist agree with every issue. There are feminist who believe in transmen."Like a religion? Questioning transitioning is not akin to hating transmen, just as questioning male privledge is not the same as man hating. The fact that some women seem to embrace this concept says alot about how insideous this backlash really is.@Anon27"The biggest problem with feminism right now is that men see it as an assertion that women are somehow better than men."Quote one feminist thinker who feels this way.
I'm a trans guy yet I don't hate women. In fact, I cherish women 100%. Women should be in power, women should have more rights, women should be paid as much as men, and so on and so on...What because I am transitioning that means I hate women? I think not! There's plenty of men that hate stuff about themselves so what should we call them? Does that mean that they hate men? I think not! Things that make you go, Hmmmmmmmm!
Dirt, don't you think that the trend to copy females from the fifties lifestyle (knitting, cooking, becoming housewife, milking babe...) is a threat to feminism as it started in 70's? It was created by the recent economic crisis but I see it as killing the effort of feminism. And it is no wonder the transmales partners are typical 1950's women for the one who are straight.
Men are not the enemy! Yeah some men can be assholes but you can't blame them all for your problems. There's a whole lot of men out there who are outstanding men. It just seems like you blame all men for your "problems" whether they are real or just in your mind and delusions. Honestly, men are not the enemy in any form that that come, whether they are biological men or transmen. I just think it's a shame that you blame all of your problems on men...All men! Maybe you need to look within yourself and see that the REAL problem is within yourself and not with men in general. This comment as well as the other comments will go on my blogs just in case you delete it...just for my records on my own research that I Am doing for the book I am writing. Men are not the enemy. Transmen are not the enemy. The enemy is actually within yourself!
"Men are not the enemy. Transmen are not the enemy. The enemy is actually within yourself!"How many times have we heard this about other marginalized groups? Blacks are responsible for racism. Jews are responsible for anti-semitism. Gays are responsible for homophobia. Etc. etc. etc. Typical right wing racist femicidal rhetoric from the conservative right wing. More proof that transgenderism is a right wing anti-gay anti-women conservative hate philosophy.
I dont generally like to put myself in to groups as that groups me in with every other moron that may be in that group.Yes i beleive women should be treated equal to men, here in the UK equality between genders has taken a step forward as now women have to pay the same amount for car insurance than men. ok they have to pay MORE than they used to, but that is what equality looks like.for me it all goes down hill when it comes to children. yes, there are many great signle parents, but as a child i loved having my mother at home when i got home from school, i loved having a childhood with 2 parents. to me, theres just no better way to raise a child, dads at work and stay at home mums. it just worked.
" theres just no better way to raise a child, dads at work and stay at home mums. it just worked."Can NOT get more conservative than that. Trans=Conservatism.
well i dnt really care anon. I am more concerned with the well being of the child, you have to sacrifice for that child. im nt saying women should HAVE to do this, but it does, simply, work.actually it slipped my mind that this is a lesbian group, if your a lesbian and want kids, sure, n problem, but 2 parents still helps, and children do like to have a parent at home with them, not being stook in a nursery.
also i like that you made the assumption that im trans, i LOL at you.
@ 7:41 AMactually, im going to advance on this, you quoted me as " theres just no better way to raise a child, dads at work and stay at home mums. it just worked."you missed out a very important part of the sentance, which was "To me" stating that it was a personal opinion and choice. you make it sound like i a want to force this way of life on women, this is not true. please. dont qute me out of context, too much of this happens here already.and no, im not trans. thankyou
I'm curious what brings you to this blog, UK anonymous? And what if mum works and dad stays home?(This would have been better for me, my mother was not an ideal mother!)It is very interesting reading anti-feminist (man-haters!) posts from womenMore disturbing than interesting
@greenbeanIf the women has a decent job and the dad can stay at home then sure. Just from personal experience and talking to other women, children generally have a special bond with their mother. if a split happens children will usually go to the custody of the mother, i think putting them in to the custody of the person that is usually away from home might not be so great on the kids, if my parents had split i would want to go to the custody of my mother who i was used to being around for me. rather than taken away and missing her terribly. Again, personal opinion, personal experience.
I am not saying that women should stay home with the children, though if the women chooses to does not mean she is not a feminist. An aspect of feminism is also about women being able to choose their own decisions, without being critized for it am I right? Please correct me if I am worng. I dont want to stay ignorant if I am.
When I said some feminist believe in transmen I didnt mean it as a religion. I am sorry I should have clarified when I made the statement. I meant it as respecting the fact that it might be something that they needed done. Since everyone is still pretty much ignorant on the subject of transgender issues and what causes it.Just like every thing else that has been brought up through history. History repeats itself.Questiong male privilage is not the same as hating men. Male privilage is there just like white privilage. Like just because someone questions white privilage does not make them a racist. Though the concept of male privilage needs to be disassociated with why transmen transition. We can't assume that we know how their brain works.I was taught at a young age in school that when your assuming things your making an ass out of everyone invlolved.

Anon@10:12,Reminds me of the 90's Club Kid trend, and we all know where they wound up. Terribly sad.dirt
I knowYoung girls are still hanging around with them as they (the girls) are going through their 'experimental' years, but once these 'guys' are older chances are only very dirty men and/or other transmen will be interested in them...
GB,Exactly, Craig's list is littered with such wo/men.dirt
There are girls who "become" bisexual because it's a fad or because they're tired of dating guys, but does that make them genuine bisexuals? I think not.I agree, there are girls who consider it 'cool' to say they're actually guys and transition and everything. There are known cases of people de-transitioning. However, that does not mean that everyone who transitions is doing it for the reasons you're publicizing. Genuine transsexuals do exist. And many such FtM's remain sensitive to feminine issues even after transitioning.Regarding the debate about which parent should work and who should stay at home- both of my parents work. That leaves me alone in the house all day long. When dad's at home but mom's not, dad'll be doing his work and I'll find something to keep myself busy because, frankly spending time with him isn't really important. When mom's at home though, she tries to spend as much time with me as possible, and I love that because I truly miss her when she's not around at weekends. That's the way nature intended things to be. (Biologically) women are supposed to give birth and nurture the child and men are supposed to protect them and provide livelihood. Modernization may have skewed this basic principle, but human beings inevitably have a stronger emotional attachment with their mothers. If the mother works and the dad stays at home, chances are, their kids will never have a strong emotional bond with their parents,

Modernization may have skewed this basic principle, but human beings inevitably have a stronger emotional attachment with their mothers. "lets just say the same for trans people.nature did intend for them to be born into the sex that they were born into. modernization HAS skewed this basic principle, but human beings inevitably have a stronger emotional attachment with their egos.(thinking they are above nature and biology.)
Nature doesn't "intend" anything. Nature is not an entity, it doesn't have a brain or a mind, and it doesn't have intentions. When you use it that way, you're using it as a stand-in for a deity - you're making a religious argument concealed by neutral vocabulary. Would both sides of the debate please stop doing that?
