Transgender Trumps Other Mental Diagnosis

A quick relay of something just in....several Trans females were commenting on their experience with mental illness/mental distress diagnosed prior to a Gender Dysphoria diagnosis and whether prior/current diagnosis of other mental disorders hindered them from garnering testosterone:
It hadnt/didnt/doesnt. One trans female admitted to a bipolar disorder diagnosis. If she is taking meds for BP, clearly then, she should NOT be using any form of testosterone

Psychiatric/Medical doKtors are treating multiple diagnosis in transgender patients as if transition-drugs-surgeries are the blanket solution to all mental issues in the transgender community. Childhood trauma/sexual abuses are being ignored. Rape trauma is being ignored. Child abuse is being ignored. Physical abuse is being ignored. Mental abuse is being ignored. Incest is being ignored. And any of the disorders that spring from past traumas are being ignored or superseded by the transgender (GD) diagnosis/treatment

On top of that, the medications used for the myriad of disorders which sprang from past traumas, can/do harmfully conflict with synthetic hormones such as testosterone. And yet, transition drugs/surgeries continue to be doled out like children's aspirin to children

Doktors diagnosing/treating transgender patients arent interested in helping their trans clients, they are interested in keeping/making them sicker.

  1. Is this what uneducated people do with their free time? Obsess themselves over other people's personal business? Pathetic.
FYI, its transman, not transfemale-- At least SOMEWHAT educate yourself before you make an entire blog spewing verbal, bigoted diarrhea everywhere.

It's you, Anonymous, who needs to catch up on your reading/education. Like other feminists who use the terminology of facts, not fantasy, Dirt is referring to these women-who-trans by their sex: female. She. Her. Not by their wish to be men.

    2. And if you actually educated yourself, you dense, half-wit, you'd realize its not a wish but rather a physical part of their brain that can be seen through MRIs. There is neuroscience behind it and they've been around since the beginning. They're men, and no amount of your whining will change that.

  2. The whole Its non of Your Business tripe is a familiar behavior with addicts, and those people wishing to cloister and hide the extent of eating disorders, hoarding, etc.
People whom are comfortable with the choices they make and the behaviors they engage in, are indifferent to examination and critical review.

    1. It's also a familiar behavior with normal people who understand the concept of privacy. You're attacking a particularly sensitive group of people and deem it acceptable because they're hurt by it. Are homosexuals wrong too if they were to get offended over a blatant insult? Your silly justifications are amusing at best.
Please, go on about how you think you understand human behaviour where you clearly don't.

    2. Why is this group of people "particularly sensitive" ? Are they more sensitive than women with PTSD as a result of sexual assault, for example ?

This is the only form of delusional thought/behaviour which is treated with SURGERY. Lobotomies didn't fix most people very well, either, and they tried to fix the person's "issues" at the brain level.

There is a great deal of comorbidity of the fallout from trauma with many women diagnosed with GID. Slapping a gender bandaid over a deeply troubled psyche doesn't fix the rest of the issues. There are many long term consequences to cross sex hormones, including NEW psychological/psychiatric symptoms, heart disease, auto-immune reactions, urinary tract infections - and only subpar genital surgery for FTT. This GRS surgery has a high rate of infections, complications, and gives the recipient a "penis" unlike any functional penis. Why is a psychological condition being treated with surgery ?

I completely understand that women would love to be able to function in the world as men - without constant fear of sexual assault, get the same rate of pay for equal work, get respect as a human being everywhere. Selling vulnerable irreversible cosmetic surgery for tens of thousands of dollars, and a LIFETIME of dependence on hormones is unethical bad science. There is not even good data on the long term emotional, physical effects of FTT transition.

Privacy is an excellent thing. You should have a talk with those kids on Tumblr, though, who are sharing deeply personal information, including nude and genital photos of themselves in a context where their faces are also shown, with many details about their locations, and even real names.

    3. Clearly, these individuals do not understand that what they post on a PUBLIC website or PUBLIC Facebook group is out there for anyone and everyone to see. Then they want to scream about their PRIVACY being violated when someone calls attention to what they chose to share publicly. Yes, I agree that they do need to be educated about being judicious in sharing information which could bite them in the ass, even years later, when they are applying for a job or meeting a new partner (who may not want to see previous graphic sex pics).

Actually, its covered in many places, and transsexual surgery is one of the most successful in medical history. About a 90% positive rate, actually. But I guess you're too busy hunched over your laptop masturbating over your ignorance that you're completely unaware of this.

Tumblr is a cesspool, much like this blog. Nice comparison though!

    5. Here you go, Anon Aug 18, 6:44PM - a long term study on the success of GRS. The data doesn't make it sound like much of a "90% positive rate" to me:

I mean - they only studied those people over a 30 year stretch .

  3. To focus on gender seems like a vast oversimplification of what it is to be human.
When I meet a person who appears to be non conforming to conventional ideals of what is masculine or feminine I never find myself wondering what they identify as. I usually just see them as independent and interesting.

  4. I've always seen transgenderism as a symptom of an underlying disorder. To treat the trans patient with hormones and surgery is enable the symptoms, a bandaid solution, thus leaving the underlying issue untreated. It is akin to treating an anorexic patient with liposuction and encouragements to lose more weight.

As with the anorexic patient, the goal should be to help the trans patient to learn to see their body in realistic terms and to make peace with it, rather than to enable the symptoms.

Most successful in terms of what? Since when is mutilating healthy breasts and genitals a "successful" thing?

I'm not buying the 90% positive rate. Nathan Verhelst was so depressed after botched sex reassignment surgery, she begged a doctor to euthanize her. Below is an article about a woman who went online to ask for donations to repair botched "top surgery". The photograph was taken from a video that this woman posted. Thankfully, she was able to raise the money to repair the butchered job the first doctor did.

The 30 year study http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0016885 said that transsexuals still had higher rates of mortality and morbidity compared to the controls in the general population.

  7. WTF! diagnosed PTSD, BP, personality disorder....and got her "T"

What kind of sick and twisted world do we live in that tells emotionally fragile women that the only way out of their abusive past is to mutilate their bodies and pretend that they are men. Young women need to come to terms with their PTSD and abuse, not mutilate their bodies. These young women are identifying as "men" because being a woman is so painful.

    @August 18, 2015 at 2:50 PM

They do not care how many emotionally fragile women they drug and mutilate. After Nathan Verhelst's euthanasia, it was business as usual.
