Who you won't see on the cover of Vanity Fair: Brave Women

An elderly man who has spent much of his life behind closed doors masturbating to his personal (pornographic) interpretation of "woman" via a combination of his body and accessories, spends tens upon tens upon tens of thousands of dollars cutting, drugging, electrocuting, shaving and dieting his way into an collective personification of acceptable femininity has been put on the cover of Vanity Fair and is being hailed far and wide, by both the famous and the invisible as "brave".  Bravery implies having the courage to go against the grain, buck the system, not kowtow to it.

Had Bruce Jenner sported clothes found in sections labeled "womens" simply because he felt comfortable in them. Had Bruce Jenner sported womens clothes he felt comfortable in not changed his name or his pronouns. Had Bruce Jenner sported womens clothes he felt comfortable in not changed his name or his pronouns and continued to use Men's public bathrooms/locker rooms/showers. Had Bruce Jenner sported womens clothes he felt comfortable in not changed his name or his pronouns and continued to use Men's public bathrooms/locker rooms/showers and made no apology for what was natural to him but unnatural to the world around him I would agree, YES thats fucking brave!

But males calling themselves women who pay tens of thousands of dollars to twist themselves into sick-sexist male fantasies of women, is NOT fucking brave! And it only gets them a Vanity Fair cover because they do NOT challenge outdated perverse gender norms that continue to harm females. Bruce Jenner is on the cover of Vanity Fair because HE maintains male sick-sexist notions of woman, NOT because his is one.

What you wont see on the cover of Vanity Fair are WOMEN who remain WOMEN while simultaneously challenging male perversions of women like that one Bruce Jenner performed. In order words, BRAVE women!

    1. That will never happen. You'll be hard pressed to find women my age on the cover of anything. Add to that no woman like me have EVER been on the cover of a Natl magazine, in a popular or unpopular film/sitcom/reality show etc. We're far too frightening, far too much of a threat. Women, straight and mainstream lesbian may get ideals. Better to murder us in our childhoods.

  3. "Bruce Jenner is on the cover of Vanity Fair because HE maintains male sick-sexist notions of woman, NOT because he is one."

    Dirt, you nailed it!

In my opinion, Jenner fits the profile of an autogynephile. That is, a male who is sexually aroused by wearing women's clothing, or viewing himself as a "woman". It's something of a sexual fetish, and most of these males are heterosexual and closeted cross dressers. Trans activists like to pretend it doesn't exist, but people who take the time to research it know it's true.

    https://autogynephiliatruth.wordpress.com/

I could care less how he likes to dress, but Bruce, "Caitlyn", Jenner is not a woman. Jenner can afford to buy a pornified surgically created version of "womanhood" because he is a old, rich white man, but will never be a woman.

(1.) If Jenner really is a woman, no one would have heard of him. Do people think that Jenner would have made as much money, or received as much corporate sponsorship if he were a woman? No female athlete of his generation has ever received as much corporate endorsements. Female athletes still aren't paid the same as male athletes.

(2.) Bruce Jenner joined the good old rich boys in a ritzy, posh men's golf club in which it costs any where from $150,000 and $300,000 to join. The women's facilties are nothing like the men's facilities. If Bruce has always been a "woman", why didn't he complain then, or use the women's section? He chooses to hob nob in a ritzy men's golf club with other guys, but all the while maintains that he always was a "woman".

(3.) There is another thing I don't understand. Bruce Jenner is the biological father of 6 children by 3 different wives. He definitely is heterosexual, and says so. How the heck does all this work? How can a male say he always felt like a "woman" after all those marriages and impregnating all those women? Most autogynephiles are heterosexual males.

(4.) He spent God knows how many thousands of dollars on plastic surgery (facial feminization, thracheal shave, etc.) and all that makeup, clothes, etc, but deliberately decides to still keep his balls and dick. This doesn't make any sense. If he really is a "woman", one would think that the balls would be the first to go. No, he gets everything else does, but he still likes his penis the way it is.

  4. I feel like I'm watching some kind of public madness unfold, and anyone who points it out is demonized. Women must start building solidarity against this reactionary crap or pretty soon feminism will be nothing more than a program of beauty tips.

    1. Jacking off in clothes his peers deam inappropriate for him, isn't dysphoric!

Dysphoria doesn't require drugs, surgeries or sick-sexist glamour shots to get through!

It requires understanding how the Gender Straight Jacket suffocated you since the day you were born, then having the courage to be true to yourself despite all obstacles and mass gender constructions harming both sexes, but particularly female!

    3. Yeah, it requires an analysis other than "I've always liked dresses so I guess I'm a woman." This crap is unspeakably stupid.

    4. "Is there something that Jenner has done that has harmed anyone?"

      Yes.

Yes he has, with his sexual fetishes, arrogance, narcissism, lack of respectful boundaries and responsibility, and his recklessness, harmed many people: his wives, his children, his step children, and, of course, the woman he killed with his car. Also, probably many others, in many ways, that we don't know about. Yet.

  7. By promoting a destructive stereotype of women to sell a product (his reality show) Jenner is contributing to the already sky-high level of sexism in this society. Your comment suggests a neo-libearl attitude that privileges personal choice above class liberation. It's a sign of how far right we have moved. Criticizing a reactionary notion of gender isn't hate. And jealousy? Really? What, exactly, are we jealous of? That he's so thin? That he's so hot next to us frumpy feminists? C'mon. This is reactionary horse shit and women have a every right to fight it. Those of us who call ourselves feminist have an obligation to do so.

  9. I've had gender dysphoria all my life. That's because gender is destructive social construct that was created to give an intellectual and idealogical framework for male supremacy--not because I have some internal man that my body is mismatched too. Gender was never meant to be a neutral descriptor of human beings, just as race was never meant to be that. I know, I know...its so MEAN to think that!!!

  10. "Woman" is not a Roarascach Test and saying so isn't hate.

  11. Since Jenner's a woman he should figure out how much less money he would have made throughout his life if he had always been recognized as such and give it away to a good cause.

  13. This is harmful because it is the same old patriarchal bullshit. Women’s oppression has long been naturalized by saying that we are best suited to being nurturing, frivolous, vain, pleasing to men, that we aren't leaders or logical or suited to doing math. If a man could embody any of these stereotypes of femininity and still say he was a man, that would be awesome. To instead claim those stereotypes mean he's really a woman reflects on those of us born and socialized female. Those of us oppressed because of our sex, who had those stereotypes forced on us. If you don't understand how this hurts women, you don't understand social systems and how or why women are oppressed and exploited under patriarchy.

    1. Thanks, Big, I agree with you 100 percent.
Can you explain the American obsession with toilets (or, as they would say) bathrooms? Here in Spain, and as I remember it in Holland, most facilities, even if not officially "unisex", are open to anybody who really needs them. Abuses are rapidly reported.

    3. Of course, I know that. Just trying to retain a European perspective for me and Big, which might be different from the North American one. We all face the same fundamental problem (MEN, I guess) but how we deal with it can be locally different. Nice photo of you btw, but I would have shot it without the strong light behind you.

  17. Yo, Dirt:
I'm happy, relieved, refreshed and excited to find your blog. You speak truth. Women need to hear what you have to say. Did you see Alison Bechdel refer to herself as "an unusual woman"? What's so unusual about being a home-grown butch lesbian? Butches are everywhere, proud and beautiful, and BUTCHES ARE NOT MEN. Tell it like it is. All respect to you for reclaiming your identity, your real self, your female essence, in all its beautiful butchiness.

(BTW, it's great to see a photo of my favorite Jewish Lesbian Feminist Folksinger, Phranc!)

ROCK ON, Dirt, I'm going to follow your blog from now on and share it with others. Very very important, the work you're doing. All the best to you.

  18. This blog and its responses make me really sad. Why can we not have butch women AND trans men AND trans women? Do you know any young trans people? Do you know that over 50% of them try to kill themselves and many succeed? Can you not articulate a discourse that includes them? Caitlin Jenner IS perpetuating stereotypes of femininity but she is a woman because she defines as such. You are a butch woman because you define as such. You know as much as I do of how oppressive it is when someone defines as what you know you are not: for example, people calling my girlfriend a man because she is butch, or calling me straight because I am not butch. As intelligent women, we should be able to criticise Caitlin Jenner as a rich privileged white person WITHOUT refusing her the respect we would expect people to give us, of being able to self-define.

    1. Self hating individuals who destroy their minds and bodies with brutalizing drugs and unnecessary surgeries have nothing whatsoever to do with lesbians period, Butch or otherwise!

And you might want to check your facts, suicide risks and deaths INCREASE post transition, NOT before. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21364939

Bruce Jenner is an adult male. Correct pronouns for males, is his/him/he. If you cannot understand basic biology and basic language for basic biology, do not comment here.
