The Clitoris plus Testosterone doesnt a Penis Make

I can only surmise that this search, obviously by a female wanting to transition or a trans female, is born out of both desperateness and ignorance. But shoving a needle full of testosterone or any drug into a clitoris isnt going to TRANSform a clitoris into a penis. It may however cause serious bleeding, infection or worse, a serious (permanent) loss of sensaion.

Clitoris's (externally) come in a wide range of shapes, colours and sizes naturally. Taking testosterone may cause minute growth over a period of time, but if you arent born with it
then you arent. Even if the woman seen here were to go on "T" and gain a few centimeters in size, her clitoris is still a clitoris on drugs NOT a penis. On the plus size, the clitoris is a far superior organ, inside and out.

  1. It is not always the pursuit of trans individuals to achieve a "penis" through testosterone treatment (though that is sometimes the case) whether or not they accept the male dominated medical industrial complex's label of that body part as a "clitoris." The process itself is often understood as physical reclaiming of the body, whereby the application of imposed, pre-constructed femininity is rejected in physical form. The potential harm that is done to the individual, and the futility that you argue is intrinsic to the process, is hegemonic, whereby one is employed in their own undoing by those more powerful. In this argument, you individualize those employed and shame the conceptualizations that have been imposed upon them.

  3. @ anon 1:30: Fair enough. I think this blog post needs to reconsider its target. A lot of trans people who take testosterone aren't interested in having a penis anyway, and those that are won't benefit from hearing the same "female" gendering speak that they hear in culture everywhere about their bodies because it's what drove them to these invasive processes in the first place. So basically what I'm saying is I think that this post amounts to a cruel kind of body shaming that feminism should oppose, especially if one is labeling these as female bodies. The culprit (if there is to be one) in what this blog discusses are those white men who create and impress the image of their own bodies as the ideal. A true feminist critique should speak to them.

  5. Shaming is wrong but it isnt what dirt is doing dirt is merely revealing to her blog followers the troubling amounts of young gender non-conforming woman who are so self-hating that they decide to mutilate or erase themselves completely. Their bodies are healthy and normal yet they destroy themselves to match a piece of shit definition that society created such as masculine or male. Their body means nothing it isnt masculine or feminine it is functional and healthy that is what matters. MAybe if they were doing it for body modification and they openly admitted that it is what trans was then all this would not be an issue but instead the trans community is spewing bullshit and trying manipulate gender nonconformers that they have a medical condition which can be ¨fixed¨¨.

  7. Annonymous @ 3:44,

Perhaps Dirt's goal is not to body shame gender non-conforming people (most of whom are born female, and therefore gender oppressed), but this is surely the end result. When Dirt (and others) frames transition as a process of self-hatred or mutilalation, she ignores the culture that is hurting these people and victim blames. I find it somewhat akin to blaming women for their own depressed wages because they often dont "choose" to go into high-paying professons: to blame them for "choosing" low-paying careers is to ignore all of the structural forces that depress those wages in the first place. In this case, Dirt is blaming female transitioners for the voilences that dominant culture perpetuates against them BECAUSE they are gender non-conforming.

Ultimately, I think the point that Annonymous @8:50 was trying to make is that becuse Dirt's primary target is FTMs and other gender non-conforming females that identify as something other than "Butch", rather than larger cultural forces (like the medical industrial complex, higher education, the neoliberal media, the dominant public agenda, etc) or larger patriarchy its self, Dirt ultimately hurts the oppressed individuals (who are part of her community) rather than hurting patriarchy. The point is, trans people are NOT the ones doing the manipulating, if anything, they are being manipulated into their own hurt.

While butch and FTM, elders and youth duke it out on the internet, the WHITE MAN takes advantage of our weeknessess and maintains his power, oppressing us all. It is because of this that we, as lesbians, as people born female, and as oppressed persons, should ALWAYS focus our anger (and I mean anger, not merely upset or attention, because anger is an amazing tool when used appropriately by marginalized populations) against white men and their institutions.

P.S. Annonymous @ 3:29, misandry doesn't exist. Neither does reverse discrimination.

  8. ANON 3:44: As a partially transitioned non-conforming woman I am completely shamed to hear myself described as erased, self-hating, or mutilated. This is absolutely body shaming. It may be an internalization of a male condition, I'll give you that, but IT IS NOT MY FAULT and its not the fault of anyone who suffers from the internalization of the dominant masculine/male image... and it definitely does not mean I have destroyed myself or that I am an unhealthy woman. I'm proud of this body, I'm proud of this journey, and both are just as usable in the fight against patriarchy as yours are. Fuck you. Fuck this blog.

Doesn't this person mean females who take testosterone? Healthy women don't need testosterone because their bodies already make very small amounts of testosterone naturally.

What exactly is "female gendering speak"? All we are saying is that females don't have to take synthetic hormones or mutilate their bodies because their bodies are perfect the way they are.

Who saw this fancy "clitoris enhancer" gadget for FTMs? Why would any female do this to herself? Don't tell me that FTMs aren't fixated on the idea of having a "penis" even though it's never going to be a penis.

STRANGE GADGETS THAT FTMs USE - ARE THEY SAFE

Mutilation is exactly what happened to the woman below. The thing about FTM "transitioning" is this. If you are wrong about it, it sure as heck is mutilation.

"Damien’s condition deteriorated at home to the point that I called an ambulance as he had a high fever. His teeth were chattering and he was barely lucid. Early in the morn of Nov 17th he was admitted to HSC after the paramedics took a temp at his home of 39.5. He was very ill.

Damien was admitted with a postsurgical infection. By this time one of Damien’s nipples was necrotic and black but we were told it was “fine”.

Nearly five week after surgery Dec 4 at 12:30 in the afternoon Damien went to HSC emergency with his nipple hanging off pouring fluid, with redness, painful swelling, and abscesses. He was generally unwell and profoundly depressed.

After almost eight hours Damien asked a surgical resident what to do about the fact that the nipple his surgeon said was “fine” two weeks before was literally hanging off. The resident said not to worry – that people walk around with necrotic toes all the time. Damien said he was traumatized by the idea of his nipple falling off in his hand and the resident said that if it happened, he could just “throw it in the garbage.”

I wish people would have the courage and integrity to call "transitioning" what it is. It's the chemical/surgical alteration of healthy female anatomy and reproductive systems.

Women are still beautiful even if they "transition" because they are still female, and being female is beautiful and awesome. I hate to see any female brainwashed into believing that she needs to get her healthy breasts lopped off. Does this statement offend people? I don't care because this is how I see it.

Why do females need to undergo "top surgery" which basically amounts to elective mastectomies with the surgical trimming down of areolas and nipples. Why do teenage girls need to breast bind? Why do females need "T" (testosterone)?

Truth be told, women are constantly shamed one way or another into feeling alienated from their bodies as if their bodies aren't perfect the way they are. It's not their fault. It's the cultural messages that they constantly receive.

We know who is body shaming. It's plastic surgeons and transgender activists who promote FTM "transitioning".

I want this individual to know that she is beautiful and whole the way she is. I just hate to see 14, 15, and 16 year old girls brainwashed into believing that they need "T" and "top surgery".

This is true, and finally we agree. Having said this, how can people ignore the fact that transgender activists are promoting "transitioning". Transgender activists also claim that there is nothing wrong with GnRH agonists and cross gender hormones that are given to teenagers.

It's still a clitoris, and it's not going to make a woman pregnant. It's not a penis.
