FTM-Testosterone and Dick Growth

A recent search that found its way to this blog:
All I'm going to say about this, is why on earth would the medical community issue testosterone without fully explaining its effects, its dangers and potential dangers??? At this point I do not know whats worse, issuing transition to eradicate gays/lesbians or issuing transition for the sheer fucking profit.

I'll leave my dear readers to answer this trans female's question.

  1. To be fair, Dirt, the medical community does explain at least some of the effects from T, and one of those effects is that you can expect your clitoris to grow. It doesn;t warn you that your clitoris is *not* going to grow, hense the female transitioner who Googled this query being frustrated that hers hasn't grown yet. Hell, I've got a bottle of DHEA from the health food store, and even that says that it can cause virilization, and there are no prohibitions against buying it without prescription.

  2. What are you on about? The clitoris growth is not "dangerous"... and it does sometimes grow when FTMs take testosterone. In fact that's a readily accepted side-effect (one a lot of people enjoy). No idea what you're talking about.

  4. I recently watched an FTM on the YouTube series "It's a Man's World". This dear soul was yammering on about his clitoral growth from T, how it grew two inches and now he was able to 'jack off' like the true man he was. He referred to his extended clitoris as 'little man'.

  7. Look, I don't want to hurt anyone who has changed their body, but I think people who are considering transition need to know the truth.

Clitorises aren't going to grow to be more than 3 inches long, but from what people say on the web, they are usually only 1 to 2 inches long.

A penis under three inches is considered a micropenis. They occur in about 0.6% of males, according to Wikipedia. It is a problem.

Yes, size does matter to women who like sex with penises! Women aren't looking for foot long penises and it doesn't matter as much as men think it does, but a micropenis is something most women won't want. Again, from what people say, it doesn't stay in and is hard for the woman to feel it.

The problem is, to get a normal sized penis, you have to have surgery that makes it hard for you to feel anything. It doesn't get erect by itself either. So you're trading size for your partner for sensation for you. The traditional method of fingers and dildos seems like a better choice.

  8. @Anonymous at 1:17 a.m. - The dangers of testosterone have nothing to do with clitorises.

The fundamental truth is that they don't know what the long-term effects are for taking cross-gender hormones.

They have not really studied them much, so there may be risks we don't know about. They probably change your brain.

In the meantime, they know that:

Estrogen raises the risk of stroke. It can raise the risk of cancer.

Taking hormones can be bad for your liver.

People who have transitioned do have a higher rate of dying from heart problems.

Taking testosterone may give you polycystic ovary syndrome. PCOS is linked with a higher risk of uterine cancer.

Taking hormones is different from having them naturally. See Petra's comment on the hormones column.

Testosterone and estrogen are part of a system of hormones that interact and affect each other. They affect more than sex.

  9. "ftm why is my dick not growing"

Females don't have a penis. There I said it, and I hope it doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. It's not a penis because a penis is an organ that is part of the male reproductive system. It's connected to other organs of the male reproductive system.

According to everything I've read and been told, "T" (testosterone) will increase clitoral growth about an inch or two. Perhaps three inces at the most. A biological female could take "T" for years and all she is going to get is perhaps two inches of growth of the clitoris. It's still a clitoris not a penis.

Despite this fact, they still keep up with this delusion that their clitoris will magically turn into a penis.

If a person really want to see how insane it has become, try imagining a woman putting clitoris in this contraption and turning it of. This weird contraption looks like it came from Home Depot or Ace Hardware is supposed to increase the size of the clitoris. I swear it looks just like what I used to caulk around my bathtub, except this thing apparently has some kind of motor that acts like a suction device. Transgender blogs do admit that "pumping" can cause nerve damage if "done improperly".

People have to see this amazing gizmo. Does it work? The basic principle is similar to the "penis pumps" sold online to increase the size of the penis. These don't work, and there is a risk of loss of sensation and damage to the penis. The clitoris is not a penis, and it's a lot smaller than a penis.

What sane woman would put her clitoris into something like this?

    Clitoris Enhancer

It's not like they don't know that prolonged or heavy use can cause nerve damage. FTMs are willing to risk loss of sensation for a quarter inch of clitoirs growth. What appears to be growth could be swollen tissue.

  10. Mine grew quite a bit

My clitoris still works very well, and it hasn't grown at all. It looks the same size.

"ftm why is my dick not growing"

It's not a penis. Sorry, for not indulging the fantasy.

Does increasing the size of the clitoris by an inch or two increase sensation? Will a female have out of this world, mind blowing orgasms if the clitoris grows an inch? I don't think so. The clitoris doesn't need to grow an inch or two with the aid of "T". It's perfect just the way it is.

Since we are on the subject of size, and FTMs seem obsessed with it, why not be honest about it.

    cm and inches

    1 inch = 2.5 cm

Range from 3 cm (1.2 inches)to 8 cm (3.1 inches) with 4 cm (1.6 inches) to 5 cm (2 inches) being about the average

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090418132413AAhDrWw

"The clitoris generally grows from 1-2.5 inches, although there are guys who report growing as much as 3 inches."

    @January 30, 2014 at 1:17 AM

A lot of FTMs must be obsessed with the size of their clitoris. Why would they sell Clitoris Enhancer contraptions (commonly referred to as pumping)? I still say that the Clitoris Enhancers look like something that has been thrown together with parts found at a yard sale or hardware store. It even has a fancy gage on the top.

    More laughable jingoism from transland.

Perhaps tho, neo-phallus is less pathetic then referring to one's clitoris 'little man'.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "Neo-Phallus"?

There is no such thing as a "Neo-Phallus" in terms of biology. Get out an anatomy book. It's essentially a term that has no meaning outside of the particular cultural context in which it is used. It's a made up word that trans folks use to describe the results of synthetic hormones and plastic surgery. In essence, it's all artificial.

What is a "neo-phallus"? It could be one of two things. It's a clitoris which might have grown an inch or two due to synthetic testosterone. Despite all the adolescent like talk about "dick growth", the clitoris only grows an extra inch or two on average, and perhaps three inches at most with testosterone. It's just a slightly larger clitoris. What is a "neo-phallus"? It could also be the result of extensive plastic surgery (between $50,000 to $70,000) that involves taking a skin flap from the arm, thigh, or wherever, and essentially sewing it onto the female pubic area. In the case of a phalloplasty, it is NOT a penis. Biological females who undergo the ghastly procedures in "bottom surgery" never have a penis. It's basically skin flaps sewn onto the pubic area. It can only become erect with a pump or some other device. There is no erectile tissue. It doesn't ejaculate, it's not connected to a male reproductive system, and it can never produce sperm. There is another procedure called Metoidioplasty, (sometimes called clitoral release) that doesn't involve skin grafts and is less expensive. The results produce a clitoris that is two to three inches long, doesn't exactly look like a penis, and it's really not suitable for penetration. There is high rate of complication associated with the urethral lengthening.

As we have seen with the euthanasia of the Belgian woman who was severely depressed after botched sex reassignment surgery (she thought the skin flap was showing signs of rejection), there are no guarantees with sex reassignment surgery.

In phalloplasty, there is scarring to the donor site. If a surgeon takes six to eight inches of skin flap from the arm, there is going to be scarring. What happens if the skin flap doesn't take? Do they take another chunk of the other arm and sew it onto the pubic area? There is also the issue of extending the female urethra. Fistulas are common, and there is no way of completely ruling out loss of sensation.

So, what is a "neo-phallus"? It's a made up word that trans people use. It's not based on anything a person sees in a biology or anatomy book.

    January 30, 2014 at 4:44 PM

This is exactly what is happening.

The problem is, to get a normal sized penis, you have to have surgery that makes it hard for you to feel anything. It doesn't get erect by itself either. So you're trading size for your partner for sensation for you. The traditional method of fingers and dildos seems like a better choice.

"So you're trading size for your partner for sensation for you."

I actually feel sorry for human beings born female who would do this to their healthy bodies. Mutilating their bodies and jeopardizing their ability to feel sensation just to look like men. I said look like men. They will never completely be male.

  18. RE: Anonymous Jan. 30th at 4:44 p.m..

A fistula is a hole where you aren't supposed to have one.

Surgery to make a vagina can end up with one between the vagina and rectum (where your poop is).

FTM surgery fistula are between the urethra and the skin - your pee leaks out. This happens in about 45% of phalloplasties - nearly half, according to this link:
    http://www.camh.ca/en/hospital/care_program_and_services/hospital_services/Documents/surgery-FTM.pdf

Are there other kinds of fistulas people get from transitioning?

And I wonder what you are doing on this blog, for certainly you must see comments that enrage and freak you out as an FTM. Kind of like a deranged guard dog.

But you insist the rest of us shouldn't be watching the trans trends on YouTube, or notice the obvious mental issues that so many FTMs have. Not all, but many.

Besides the possibility a fistula in MTF and FTM "bottom surgery", I'm not sure.

  23. You do need to be watched. You are treating transpeople just like straight people treat gays. Myself, I dont go trolling around YouTube for gay people's stoopid videos, but if I did, I'm sure I could find plenty of mentally deranged people there in short order. Are they not really gay?

    ReplyDelete
  24. You do need to be watched. You are treating transpeople just like straight people treat gays.

We have been watching for some time, and it's impossible to keep inquisitive minds from asking uncomfortable questions and making observations. It's called freedom of the press and free speech.

Who says we are all "gays". I could be a straight or bisexual woman. What happens to the female sex matters to all women, and to women's history in its entirety. There is nothing that I'm aware of that so radically alters healthy female anatomy more than FTM "transitioning".

    It does like this:

(1.) The entire process of "transitioning" needs to be carefully watched because the sterilization of healthy children through GnRH agonists followed by cross gender hormones could be construed as a human rights abuse.

(2.) Everything involved in "transitioning" needs to be carefully watched because there are potential health risks involved in the use of synthetic hormones such as "T" (testosterone), breast binding which can mis-align ribs, and the use of rather bazaar devices such as the clitoris "enhancer".

Scroll up to January 30, 2014 at 4:59 PM and click on the link "Clitoris Enhancer". Look at this strange device. It's meant to stretch a perfectly healthy clitoris. I thought Chinese foot-binding and every other form of mutilation carried out on the female body was deranged until I saw this.

We don't want naïve young girls trying something like this. I know it might sound strange to some people, but we believe their bodies are beautiful and perfect the way they are.

How many people have actually seen FTM "top surgery" or "bottom surgery"? Few people actually know what it entails, so we intend to pull back the curtain. Many women who have undergone elective mastectomies with the surgical whittling down of nipples and areolas can't feel their nipples because they have been cut off, surgically trimmed down, and sewn back on after the elective mastectomy. They call it "top surgery" to hide the violence being carried out on the female sex. As to "bottom surgery", surgeons can't completely rule out some loss of sensation. Taking a skin flap from the arm and sewing it onto the female pubic area doesn't create a "penis". Technically, if the skin graft took, I could get skin flaps sewn onto my rear and call it a tail.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You do need to be watched. You are treating transpeople just like straight people treat gays.

(3.) The entire process of "transitioning" needs to be carefully watched because a more refined method of gay, and especially lesbian eugenics, is being carried out under our noses. We know it's happening, but we prefer to ignore it.

Why do they always bring up gay men and lesbians? It's a fact that sex reassignment surgery in Iran is being used to erase gay and lesbian identity. Actually, there are no homosexuals. This is what we have been told. If there are homosexual in Iran, they can be "transitioned" so that they are at least legal. In Iran gay men and lesbians are executed. However, the Iranian government will pay for sex reassignment surgery. Why would one of the most oppressive governments in the world pay for sex reassignment surgery yet execute homosexuals?

It could be that in western countries we are more subtle in our own particular method of gay and lesbian eugenics. We slap a label of "gender identity" on them when they are five or six years old. This is followed up by GnRH agonists (puberty suppression) once they start puberty, and cross gender hormones at age sixteen. This way, we can fix the little tomboys (think butch lesbian) and sissy boys (think limp wristed fag). Science and medicine have always found ways to deal with homosexuals.

(4.) The entire process of "transitioning" needs to be carefully monitored because it's a fact that it doesn't always make people happier. It certainly didn't work for the Belgian woman who asked to be euthanized after botched sex reassignment surgery.

    1. Then fight for the right of gays and lesbians in Iran not push your beliefs on the trans community, it's not your body. There will always be homosexuals, transitioning transsexuals may never identify as homosexual. You cant make people feel things they do not.

    @February 4, 2014 at 1:13 PM

Getting a chunk of your arm sewn onto the female pubic area makes about as much sense as sewing a chunk of arm onto your rear. Actually, the part about the tail probably makes more sense. A phalloplasty on a biological female never produces a real "penis" with erectile tissue. It's only going to become erect with a pump or some other device. It's not going to make a woman pregnant. Lengthening the female urethra has a high complication rate (fistulas, etc.). Moreover, there is always the possibility of some loss of sensation because the surgeon is cutting around sensitive genital areas. The tail option wouldn't interfere with my ability to feel sensation when it counts. My female genitals and urethra would be intact.

  29. @February 6, 2014 at 10:06 AM

I think this person misses the point. According to Ahmadinejad, there are no homosexuals in Iran. We know they are, but they can be executed for being gay. I read that lesbians are flogged so many times for the first offense, and executed if they are caught twice. There have been credible sources that say that gay men have been coerced into sex reassignment surgery. The Iranian government will even pay for sex reassignment surgery. Why would one of the most oppressive governments on earth pay for sex reassignment surgery yet execute homosexuals? There are instances in which sex reassignment surgery has been used as a means of social control of sorts, specifically the erasing of gay and lesbian identity. We also can look at the history of how medicine and psychiatry have treated homosexuals and some of the ghastly procedures carried out to cure homosexuality. Medicine and psychiatry have always experimented on homosexuals.

Research that goes back decades clearly shows that childhood gender non-conformity is a fairly good predictor of adult homosexuality and bisexuality. This is old research. Not every tomboy will grow up to be a lesbian if left alone, but many do. That is, until they start the process of "transitioning" at a very young age. Whether people have the courage to admit it or not, in western countries another form of gay and lesbian eugenics could be going on underneath our noses. It's not like people don't see this already.

As to "it's not your body", 12 and 13 year old children who are given GnRH agonists (puberty suppression) don't have the mental capacity to make informed decisions. This is being done to them.

Culture has always left its mark on the female sex. From foot-binding to female genital mutilation, has there ever been a period in history when it didn't occur. Since "it's not your body", why can't anorexics who are mostly female starve themselves to death. Why can't cutters who self mutilate continue to do what they feel compelled to do?
