  1. Dirt, this video brought up several important issues. In many ways, you are just skimming the surface. We could take each specific issue that you describe and explore it in depth.

Below are some excellent videos that people should watch. This is a beginning.

We can't look at what is occurring today and the cultural phenomenon of FTM "transitioning", etc. without examining the historical period in which it developed and expanded. It's clear that we saw an increase in FTM "transitioning" during the decline of second wave feminism. Hyper-femininity (botox, plastic surgery, labiaplasty, fashion, etc.) also increased during this time period. Pornography, particularly gonzo, violent porn exploded during the decline of second wave feminism. I've always argued that labiaplasty (for women who think their labias aren't perfect enough), botox, tummy tucks, breast augmentation, etc. and FTM "transitioning" are just the flip side of the same coin in that both are fueled largely by internalized misogyny and post modern neoliberalism and its assault on second wave feminists. With FTM "transitioning", I also think in many instances there is an underlying element of lesbian phobia.

  2. Throughout history, some intrepid souls have always stepped outside the boundaries of traditional sex roles. They went by many names, and they weren't always called transgender. I don't deny that gender non-conformity exists, but no one is born transgender. I'm not sure if there is even something called "gender non-conformity" in that it's largely culturally defined.

As to transitioning being used as a cure for homosexuality, how can people possibly deny that there isn't evidence of this already? Iran uses sex reassignment surgery as a way to deal with its homosexual problem. Actually, according to religious clerics, there are no homosexuals in Iran. The government of Iran will pay for sex reassignment surgery yet execute homosexuals. What does this tell us? When people learn that Thailand (the surgery is cheap and they require no letter from a therapist) and Iran carry out the most sex reassignment surgery, they are stunned, or they refuse to believe it. There are credible sources that say that gay men have been coerced into sex reassignment surgery. In western countries, we might have our own more subtle form of gay and lesbian eugenics. We slap a label of transgender or GID on the kid when they are seven or eight and chemically sterilize them with GnRH agonists and cross gender hormones. Studies that go back decades show that childhood gender non-conformity is a fairly good predictor of homosexuality or bisexuality.

  3. Dirt forgot to mention "gender identity" laws that shred the privacy rights of females. It really takes gall to eviscerate the privacy rights of female students by amending education code that was historically designed to address discrimination based on sex. In addition to shredding the privacy rights of female students, AB1266 appears to erase sex as a distinct class of persons.

Despite what anyone says, experts still can't predict which children will outgrow their gender dysphoria and which children don't. Both children and adults can change their gender identity. Read more about how transgender activists are trashing and gutting the privacy rights of female students.

  4. There is a dirty little secret that transgender activists refuse to admit. Autogynephilic males (sometimes called crossdressers) are mostly heterosexual males. We have always been told that they felt "trapped in the wrong body". In reality, it's primarily a sexual fetish. Many experts state that there are two kinds of transsexuals (homosexual and heterosexual transsexuals). For autogynephiles who are mostly heterosexual, it's a sexual fetish more than anything else. When they were young, it's not so much identifying as a woman as being turned on by wearing nylons or articles of women's clothing.

“But there’s no such thing as autogynephilia!”: Phone Sex, the Male Gaze, and How Blanchard and Trans* Activists Both Get It Wrong

Whenever radical feminists and trans* activists clash about trans* issues, there’s a major divide on the issue of something called “autogynephilia.”

Autogynephilia is often advanced as one of two forms of transsexuality for men–the other involves a very feminine homosexuality that manifests as transsexuality. I don’t buy into Blanchard’s easy two-part typology. But at the same time, it’s ridiculous for trans* people and their allies to claim that autogynephilia isn’t real.

I know this, because I worked as a phone sex operator for a number of years.

During those years, I only had one woman caller–she wanted to know who her husband had been calling all this time, late at night.

However, I’d also hear another type of call from men who got off on the idea of themselves as women. Sometimes, they’d call already using a falsetto. Other times, they’d want me to suss out what they wanted, because that was part of the fun to them–being identified by a woman as someone who wanted to be feminized.

These callers were among my most lucrative, calling with more frequency and duration than almost any other caller. It’s worth noting that–contrary to Blanchard’s hypothesis–not all of these callers identified as lesbians. Here are some of the things that the callers who wanted to be feminized got off on:

    * Being “hypnotized” into believing they were growing breasts–and they always wanted incredibly large ones–and that their penises were shrinking and becoming a fuckable hole.

    * Being ordered to go to glory holes and rest stops and public men’s rooms dressed in very frilly women’s clothing, and to offer sexual services to men in those places.

    * Telling me about times when they had snuck into women’s spaces, including rest rooms and department store changing rooms, while dressed as women, and had masturbated in those spaces.

    * Telling me about times in their childhood when they had worn women’s clothing.

    * Having me tell them how to do their makeup or hair (yes, they would masturbate during this).

    * Telling me about going to stores selling feminine clothing and/or lingerie, and about shocking the (always female) workers there with their requests.

Whether they were sexually interested in men or women (and why men who are sexually interested in men call female phone sex operators is a whole other story), these autogynephiles had some significant similarities.

  6. “But there’s no such thing as autogynephilia!” continued...

"Today, many women in liberal feminist spheres will give that to men wanting to get off on their ability to become the gazed-upon at will, completely free of charge. One of the biggest reasons I am skeptical of the “born this way” school of transgenderism is that I have personally had to listen to hundreds of men who paid me to cater to their extremely sexualized, misogynistic fantasies of what it means to be transformed into a woman. Don’t tell me autogynephilia doesn’t exist, when I made many thousands of dollars by learning enough about it to be able to cater to it in a way that played on the psychology behind it. Don’t tell me it doesn’t exist to make your political point, when I have the reviews from many, many “girls” who were satisfied customers."

  7. White, middle aged cross dressing heterosexual autogynyphiles have high-jacked and colonized gay and lesbian politics for their own particular interests. They are willing to shred the privacy rights of females to further their cause. Closeted cross dressing middle aged males with economic status and privilege have always existed.

"These men are the funders of the agencies and lobbying groups promoting the medicalization of childhood gender nonconformity. The best known example is billionaire financeer and lifelong closeted crossdresser (and father of three) James “Jennifer Natalya” Pritzker whose Tawani Foundation single-handedly funds the experimental pediatric transgender drug clinic at Children’s Hospital of Chicago...Sixty years of research shows that the largest demographic of transgenders- heterosexual men- are in no way gender-nonconforming as children. Gay kids are. You won’t see adorable pictures of these heterosexual transgender men as toddlers wearing tiaras and being fabulous. Their “gender identity” started at puberty with an erection while wearing mother’s panties "

  8. On this blog and other blogs, the use of GnRH agonists (puberty suppression) has been discussed at great length.

It's amazing what can be carried out under the banner of "gender identity". The sterilization of children is usually viewed as a human rights abuse. In addition to the issue of making children infertile, people have reported side effects from GnRH agonists. Lupron is one of the GnRH agonists that has been given to 12 and 13 year old children.

    http://dirtywhiteboi67.blogspot.com/2013/08/trans-kids-lupronlucrin-and-deadly.html

Treatment with puberty delaying drugs leads to sterilization if it is followed with the administration of cross sex hormones at 16 years, as the Brill and Pepper handbook on “transgender” children (2008), explains, “the choice to progress from GnRH inhibitors to estrogen without fully experiencing male puberty should be viewed as giving up one’s fertility, and the family and child should be counseled accordingly” (Brill & Pepper, 2008, p. 216). For girls, sterilization is the outcome too, because “eggs do not mature until the body goes through puberty” (Brill & Pepper, 2008, p. 216).

  9. Overall, transgender is slowly evolving into an Orwellian nightmare for the female sex on multiple levels. On the MTF side, we have males who insist on violating the privacy rights of females by demanding access to women's restrooms and locker rooms. The privacy rights of girls and women are being shredded. Cross dressing middle aged males like Colleen Francis parade their penis around women's locker rooms and claim "gender identity".

Everyone should read the actual campus police report.

    http://www.adfmedia.org/files/EvergreenPoliceReport.pdf

Read where it says "her male genitalia" and 17 year old girl. What kind of horse **it is this. This is how insane "gender identity" has become.

On the FTM side, 14 and 15 year old girls are already talking about "T" and can't wait to get their breasts lopped off.

  12. Since the subject at hand is "The Feminist Guide to ALL things Transgender", if people haven't already seen this video of "top surgery", it's a must view.

Elective mastectomies with the surgical trimming down of areolas and nipples. Areolas and nipples are cut off, resized, and then sewn back on after the mastectomy. Loss of sensation is common, and every now and then the nipple graft doesn't take resulting in the loss of a nipple or two. There are other procedures besides the double incision with areola and nipple grafting, but the keyhole can only be performed on small breasts with good skin elasticity. Notice the perfect medium sized breasts in the video.

    http://www.topsurgery.net/resources/videos/dr-medalie-double-incision-top-surgery.htm

When I first watched this video, my initial gut reaction was that I was witnessing a form of violence being carried out on the female sex.

If people want to read what botched "top surgery" is like, read this long personal account by the woman known only as S dated July 28, 2011.

  13. I wish people would stop pretending that "transitioning" isn't being promoted by transgender activists, "gender therapists", trans friendly doctors, plastic surgeons, etc.

    Too bad about the breasts....

"Dr Richard Curtis, who was born Vanda Zadorozny, but had a sex change in 2005, is being investigated by the General Medical Council, after at least three separate complaints.

The London-based GP is accused of prescribing sex change hormones “to several patients” that were not appropriate and also ignoring restrictions placed on his practice.

In one case reportedly under investigation by the GMC, the doctors’ regulator, a woman complained she regretted undergoing treatment, which included having a double mastectomy and taking hormones. "

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9784545/Dr-Richard-Curtis-transsexual-doctor-faces-investigation.html

Who can ever forget the euthanasia of the Belgian woman who felt so depressed after sex reassignment surgery, that she begged a doctor to euthanize her. She didn't like the way her chest looked after "top surgery", and expressed concern that the skin flap from her arm that was sewn onto her pubic area to fashion a "penis" was about to rot off. Most people have no idea what "bottom surgery" entails. Six to eight inches of skin flap (skin, fat, tissue) is taken from the arm or other part of the body and sewn onto the pubic area. These are ghastly procedures by anyone's standards. If necrosis sits in, what do they do? Do they take another chunk of the other arm?

Your comments are spot-on. Rem acu tetigisti. From a male gay perspective one could add, as part of the anti-feminist backlash, gay men's new-found need to "reclaim their masculinity", starting with growing moustaches and dressing like construction workers and leading to decorating all their (I can no longer say our) publications with hypermasculine, often sadomasochistic images. Is the "lipstick lesbian" phenomenon a counterpart to that? I suspect so, but don't really feel qualified to comment.
Anonymous, I follow your comments from thread to thread of Dirt's blog. Yes, of course I know when it's you, I'm a linguist, trust me... (-:

There is simply no comparison between lesbianism/gayness and being transgender. Being lesbian or gay is about who you love, whereas being transgender is about what you *are.*
Also, if you ask some lesbian feminists, they will say that being a lesbian is a choice, and that is largely true. Most women/girls have experienced love and attraction to a woman/girl in their lives (one or more), but whether or not to act on it is a choice. You don't have a choice as to whether you are female, male or intersex though.

Neoliberal post modern "choice" means absolutely nothing in a world of glaring inequality, abject poverty, rampant misogyny, and the powerful few raping the planet for their own personal gain. Neoliberal economics gave us the financial melt down, corrupt bankers, and an enormous gap between rich and poor. It continues to rape the poor and middle class and pillage the planet. It's all choice, so it's all good.

Nothing exists in a complete cultural vacuum. It never has and never will. Why should anyone tell anorexics who, by the way, are mostly female that they can't starve themselves to death? Why are most anorexics females? We aren't allowed to ask because it's a personal choice. Why are most plastic surgeon patients female? We aren't allowed to ask because it's all a personal choice.

If you think these are women, that should make you MORE supportive of them, not LESS. Shouldn't women have the right to do whatever they want and pursue their dreams? Who the hell are you to tell a woman what she can and can't do? You're just as bad as the system you claim to hate.

Is this individual really saying that females should be able to get their perfectly healthy breasts surgically removed and their nipples and areolas trimmed down to approximate male size? Should they be able to mutilate their female genitals? What happens if they regret it later, or the surgery is botched? We have already seen examples of this. If a mutilated and euthanized female body doesn't wake people up, I don't know what will.

If we are wrong about FTM "transitioning", it does resemble female genital mutilation.

Who the hell are you to tell a woman what she can and can't do? You're just as bad as the system you claim to hate.

Who the hell is this person, and why does she or he feel the need to tell me or anyone else how to think Is this person part of the thought police?

It's amazing that they never say this to transgender activists, "gender therapists", transition friendly doctors, or plastic surgeons who mutilate healthy female bodies. Who the hell does FTM Dr. Richard Curtis think she, rather, he is by telling a woman that she would be happier getting her breasts lopped off. It didn't work and she regrets it. Sorry about the lopped off boobs. Who the hell does FTM Dr. Richard Curtis think she, rather he is by giving hormones to any person who walked through the front door?

  20. There is simply no comparison between lesbianism/gayness and being transgender. Being lesbian or gay is about who you love, whereas being transgender is about what you *are.*

Transgender is primarily a culturally defined identity that doesn't exist outside the particular social/cultural situation in which it is used. Of course, gay and lesbian are also culturally defined. However, there is probably more of a biological basis for homosexuality than transgender. Same sex sexual behavior has been observed in several species of primates and most mammals. We know that primates and mammals can't identify as gay or lesbian, but we can observe their behavior. Bonobos are basically bisexual. Do we see transgender primates? Can primates change their sex? Primates (human and non-human) are 90% genetically similar. Some species of fish can change their sex, but how close are fish genetically to humans?

There is simply no comparison between lesbianism/gayness and being transgender.

This is only partly true. Saying that, "There is simply no comparison between lesbianism/gayness and being transgender" is not accurate. First, we know this isn't true because many FTMs have identified as lesbian before "transitioning", or have had some connection to the lesbian community prior to "transitioning". Second, research that goes back decades shows that childhood gender non-conformity is a fairly good predictor of adult homosexuality. Not every tomboy will grow up to be a lesbian, but researchers have known for some time that many of these girls grow up to be lesbian or bisexual.

    http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=is-your-child-gay&page=2

"For example, in a 2008 study psychologist Kelley Drummond and her colleagues interviewed 25 adult women who were referred by their parents for assessment at a mental health clinic when they were between three and 12 years old. At the time, all these girls had several diagnostic indicators of gender identity disorder. They might have strongly preferred male playmates, insisted on wearing boys' clothing, favored rough-and-tumble play, stated that they would eventually grow a penis or refused to urinate in a sitting position. Although only 12 percent of these women grew up to be gender dysphoric (the uncomfortable sense that your biological sex does not match your gender), the odds of these women reporting a bisexual or homosexual orientation were up to 23 times higher than would occur in a general sample of young women. Not all tomboys become lesbians, of course, but these data suggest that lesbians often have a history of cross-sex-typed behaviors.

And the same holds for gay men. Bailey and Zucker, who conducted a retrospective study in which adults answered questions about their past, revealed that 89 percent of randomly sampled gay men recalled cross-sex-typed childhood behaviors exceeding the heterosexual median.

Critics have argued that participants' memories may be distorted to fit with societal expectations and stereotypes. But in a clever study published in 2008 in Developmental Psychology, evidence from childhood home videos validated this retrospective method. People blindly coded child targets on the latter's sex-typical behaviors, as shown on the screen. The authors found that “those targets who, as adults, identified themselves as homosexual were judged to be gender nonconforming as children.”

Numerous studies have since replicated this general pattern, revealing a strong link between childhood deviations from gender role norms and adult sexual orientation. There is also evidence of a “dosage effect”: the more gender-nonconforming characteristics there are in childhood, the more likely it is that a homosexual or bisexual orientation will be present in adulthood."

Being gay or lesbian is also about who you *are*, and is as valid an identity as transgender. In reality, the only difference between a transgender identified female and a butch lesbian is often one of personal identity. There are some butch lesbians who exhibit more gender non-conformity than some FTMs.

I think being lesbian or gay is a *more* valid "identity" than transgender. It's perfectly valid to feel love and attraction towards members of the same sex. It's not valid to say you are another sex than what your biological sex is.
