Legal Marriage via Legal Sex Change Equals ANTI GAY!

Bill 1218 is a bill being proposed in the Texas senate which would invalidate legal change of sex. Meaning a male who legally changes his sex to female would no longer be allowed to marry a male or a female legally changing her sex to male could no longer marry a female. In other words, trans people would no longer be able to conveniently skirt same sex marriage laws in Texas, as they do regularly in other states.

Two issues which confuse the hell out of me regarding this: 1) Supposedly we're the glbT? 2) If living in a state/country which does not allow "equal marriage", why on earth would any trans person use their legal sex change to take advantage of something that the whole of the GLBT community clearly cannot? That just doesnt ring of community now does it?

It wasnt too long ago that the Trans Community/Politic was in the biggest uproar when ENDA had its greatest chance of passing since gays and lesbians began legally fighting for it 40+ years ago, IF "gender identity" was removed. History has long bore out that change cometh slowly and usually with increments. We have seen it repeatedly in other countries and within our own, from freeing the slaves, civil rights, rights for women and currently with illegal immigrants.

While there is always going to be a certain amount of in fighting when groups disagree, we general do not see groups throwing the baby out with the bath water! I dont recall ever reading about black women demanding black men give up their right to vote because that right applied only to black men. In fact black men's right to vote encourage all women to fight on till we too got the vote! So why is it that this one small group (trans) within the larger GLBT group had no qualms about an "all or nothing" ENDA bill BUT do not hold the same reasoning for an "all or nothing" marriage law???

Once when Sylvia Plath cut her thumb, she ingeniously imagined in her poem Cut that each escaping red corpuscle was a "red coat". As she watched these "red coats" desert the body in favour of their own plans, she asked herself "whose side are they on"?

  1. You are not in my community. You are a hateful, misdirected, and disgusting waste of a human flesh. 99% of your efforts are about hatred- not community. For that reason, I'm not bothered by any privilege I have over you. Congratulations on giving us an easy excuse to leave you behind.

  2. I don't know if it's true or not, but I read that part of the reason that Thomas Beatie, the "pregnant man" FTM legally changed her sex to "male" was so that she could legally marry her female partner. After she got be breasts lopped off and took enough "T" to grow a little mustache, unlike lesbians, she was allowed to legally marry the woman she was living with. She was no longer a lesbian, but a "straight man". Of course, legally changing her sex to male didn't stop her from having THREE BABIES AFTER LEGALLY CHANGING HER SEX. Most rational people see this as a travesty. It's a joke and an absurd abuse of the legal system.

(1.)I support same sex marriage which would make the marriage issue moot.

(2.)I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT BIOLOGICAL MALES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEGALLY CHANGE THEIR SEX TO FEMALE. ALSO, BIOLOGICAL FEMALES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEGALLY CHANGE THEIR SEX TO MALE. I'm more open to the idea of being a bit flexible as far as rare intersex medical conditions are concerned. Intersex (disorders of sexual development) are actual genetic or medical conditions which can be diagnosed with genetic testing or other medical tests. The majority of transgender do NOT have an actual intersex medical condition. It's essentially all in their heads. Before "transitioning", they are no different than other biological females or males. The fact that many MTFs (biological males who "transition") were heterosexual, married men with children prior to SRS should tell us that they are, indeed, males. Also, the FTMs like Beatie, the "pregnant man", who give birth to three babies AFTER legally changing their sex to "male" makes a mockery of legal change of sex.

BESIDES, SEX REASSIGNMENT SURGERY DOESN'T REALLY CHANGE ONE'S SEX. IT ESSENTIALLY AMOUNTS TO EXTENSIVE PLASTIC SURGERY ON ONE'S GENITALS AND YEARS OF HORMONES. THE GENETICS NEVER CHANGE. While it's true that some females are infertile, as a specific class of people NO biological male who "transitions" can ever give birth. Also, biological females who "transition" are not required to sign up for Selective Service. Also, it's obvious that they can never father children. Biological females who "transition" do NOT have the same responsibilities as males.

Again, in my opinion, the only people who should possible be allowed to legally change their sex are actual intersex (disorders of sexual development) indiduals. These are rare medical conditions that can be diagnosed with genetic or other lab tests.

Transgender are a minority who have clung to the coat tails of the GLB for way too long. They have been successful in playing on liberal guilt for so long that they are drunk with self delusions. All this can change. Women far outnumber transgender and WOMEN HAVE MORE VOTING POWER. After Colleen Francis paraded his penis in the women's locker room in Washington State, women are starting to wake up. The political backlash against transgender is like a snow ball rolling down a mountain side. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger as it rolls steadily along.

Many GLB are frankly becoming embarrassed to be associated with "T" as in transgender. The Democratic Party doesn't want to touch the trans males, penis and all, in women's restrooms issue with a ten foot pole. They know it's political suicide. Soccer moms are starting to wake up. Since women far outnumber transgender, and the Democratic Party is dependent on the women's vote, this doesn't bode well for the transgender community. All we have to do is to show them photos of Colleen Francis, Sherri (Richard) Masbruch, Michelle Kosilek, Sandy Jo Battista (David Megarry), and Ronny Darnell.

So, I hope this person enjoys his or her special privilege while it lasts because LAWS CAN ALWAYS BE CHANGED. NOTING IS WRITTEN IN STONE.

    TRUE MORE OFTEN THAN NOT....

While the transgender community clings to the coat tails of the GLB and its political success, it's amazing how they like to play at being GLB when it suits their interests, but then turn around and say that they are just like straight folks in their every day lives. Many females who "transition" and go from being lesbian to "straight men" dump all association with the lesbian community now that they have their wife, and are seen as the straight couple down the street, white picket fence and all. If they pass well and don't intentionally get pregnant three times like Thomas the "pregnant man", society views the couple as heterosexual. They conveniently get to drop the dreaded lesbian, dyke, or "lez" label once and for all. Still, they expect the GLB to fall in line when they whimper and whine that they are so discriminated against and no one understands them.

Working both sides of the street. Transgender have it down to an art form. We must never forget that they are the most discriminated people in the entire world...way more than lesbians or gay men.

  5. Well, you *could* spend your days obsessing about how trans people are destroying your life. Or you could try *having* a life. It's totally up to you.

  6. @Anon 7:56pm...

That's the problem... these trans-hating people have no life, unless you call obsessing over trans people "a life".

I had my surgery and am legally female, and legally married to a man in a state that doesn't allow gay marriage. Do I feel bad? Hell no!

Let me clarify... I do feel bad that gays and lesbians cannot be legally married here and in many other states. I fully support same sex marriage and would vote for it in any referendum. BUT... I don't feel bad at all that I was able to get married. After all, in the eyes of law and society, I am simply a straight woman... and none of these vile haters can take that from me.

Actually, Democratic Vice President Joe Biden, (heard of him?) was quoted in the Huffington Post saying that transgender rights are the ""the civil rights issue of our time". Google it.

YES to these comments. In the 1970s and 80s, when gay people had made only modest gains in legal and social acceptance, transsexuals were anxious to distance themselves from us, because association with us cast doubt on their narrative of being ordinary joes/jills who just happened to be "born in the wrong body". It is only now that we have become more successful that they perceive some advantage in piggy-backing on our movement. It always seemed to me that transsexualism was, at best, discordant with feminism. Nevertheless, I was until recently prepared to regard transsexuals as misguided would-be allies rather than opponents, and to "agree to disagree" with their take on gender relations.
When I first learnt that some M2Ts, after transition, "identified as lesbians", I immediately made a range of assumptions, all of which turned out to be false. Firstly, I assumed that the number of such people was very small: too few to cause any real concern to anybody, certainly no danger. Secondly, I assumed that prior to transition, they were gay men. I ascribed their "lesbianism" to a commitment to isophilia - equality in sexual relationships - coupled with a conviction that such equality was impossible in heterosexuality; no doubt, I fondly imagined, they were motivated more by "politicaLesbianism" than by any new-found erotic passion for women. As to why these (imaginary) gay men wanted to transition at all, I was rather hazy: possibly a misguided, over-literal, but ultimately well-intentioned interpretation of the anti-sexist political goal of unlearning/refusing to be a man. Certainly, I underestimated heterosexual men by assuming that none of them would go to such extraordinary lengths to gain access to women's space and bodies.
I could not have been more wrong about all these things, and surely few if any other gay men were ever quite as naive or wishful-thinking as me. Nevertheless, as a community, we are a very easy target for liberal guilt-tripping, and this, along with our capacity for generous self-deception, can be manipulated. We quite naturally wish to think the best of people who claim to suffer an oppression similar to our own; having ourselves been regarded as perverts and weirdos, we have a horror of even appearing to regard others in the same light; we are easily frightened by the suffix "-phobia" (phobophobia?). Hyperliberalism and over-inclusivity is a constant danger for the lesbian and gay movement(s): just look at how long it took us to shake off pederast/pedophile groups like NAMBLA and Martijn. But shake them off we did, and we must do the same with the "trans activists". If we can do so without causing needless hurt to gentle gay men who feel that their femininity impels them acquire faux-female bodies, and to young lesbians who confuse strength, assertiveness or butchness with being male, then so much the better. But one way or another we must defend ourselves against aggressive heterosexual men who falsely claim membership of our community for their own destructive purposes.

  10. Haha. Raise your hand if you've spent more time and energy on this blog fighting transpeople than you have spent fighting sexual slavery, rape, pedophiles, gay-bashing, racism, and classism combined. Now ask yourself,"What exactly is my real problem?" I think I know.

I imagine politicians say a lot of things, and most of the time they pander to just about anybody. Let's look at the actual demographics. The Democrats wouldn't have elected Obama twice without the women's vote. If women wanted to get real serious about it, the women's vote could possibly shut down the entire GLBT. Women have far more voting power than transgender. When it was just transgender harassing lesbians, no one really cared. After Colleen Francis paraded his penis around the women's locker room, and after the 6 year old "transgender" boy whose school told him that he had to use the boy's restroom, it's not just rad fems and transgender anymore. Soccer moms just don't understand this. All women are eventually waking up to the fact that transgender is slowly evolving into an Orwellian nightmare for girls and women on so many levels. All women have to do is to get organized because the Democrats know that they need the women's vote.

No, in the eyes of society, most people don't believe that it's possible for a biological male to change his sex. This political correct nonsense was forced on us, and we have just gone along with it.

BESIDES, LAWS CAN CHANGE. BIOLOGICAL MALES ARE NOT WOMEN AND BIOLOGICAL FEMALES ARE NOT MEN. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO CHANGE THEIR SEX. This really is insane because most people really don't believe that it's actually possible for a person to change their sex. HUMANS CAN NO MORE CHANGE THEIR SEX THAN THEY CAN CHANGE THEIR SPECIES. If males want to dress up and go in drag, I really could care less, but it doesn't mean that they are women.

Why are women the only historically oppressed group of people who aren't granted the right to define themselves? No other marginalized community would ever tolerate this. The appropriation of the word "woman" by males is highly offensive to me. People would be offended if white people put on black face, and proceeded to say how they "always felt black inside". Although having no black ancestors, I've always felt black inside. So, why couldn't I just get plastic surgery to make me look like a black person? Then, on forms where it asks for race, I would check "black" or "African American". If anyone can be black, or pick a minority such as Asian, and if there is nothing special about being black or Asian, then doesn't this just throw these identities out the window.

As to FTMs, they step up in social class and standing by renouncing their female identity. Despite this, they do not have all the responsibilities of being male. For example, they don't have to sign up for Selective Service, and can't father children.

I discussed intersex in an earlier post. Intersex are actual genetic or medical conditions which can be diagnosed with genetic testing or other medical tests. The majority of transgender do NOT have an actual intersex medical condition. It's essentially all in their heads. Before "transitioning", they are no different than other biological females or males.

  13. QUESTION: Why does the transgender community expect the GLB to support everything that benefits them when they KNOW FULL WELL THAT HISTORICALLY SEX REASSIGNMENT SURGERY HAS AT TIMES BEEN USED TO ERASE GAY AND LESBIAN IDENTITY?

We brought the subject of Iran up on this blog on numerous ocassions. The government of Iran will help pay for sex reassignment surgery, but homosexuality is punishable by death. This is one way that Iran deals with homosexuals. Actually, according to Ahmadinejad, THERE ARE NO HOMOSEXUALS IN IRAN. They will, however, pay for sex reassignment surgery. Gay men in Iran have been coerced into sex reassignment surgery.

With puberty suppressing drugs followed by cross gender hormones, people in western countries could be carrying out a more subtle form of gay and lesbian eugenics. Or, at least, the surgical and chemical castration of gender non-conforming children.
