Games Gender Plays

Post a list of the games that girls play in their youth that get paid millions to play as adult women?

Make a similar list using boys/men.

Do men earn millions of dollars being policemen, firemen or cowboys, emulating their childhood games? Come to think of it, I don't know a lot astronauts either and I can't remember ever seeing children play at being CEOs of large multinational companies, regardless of their gender.

I'm not sure if you're subtly trying to hint at little girls playing at being "mommy" and not earning bucketloads of cash. My mother earns over $20,000 a year more than my father. Playing mommy as a child hasn't stopped her from achieving that.

  2. When I was little I played dinosaurs and sadly I haven't made my millions by becoming a professional dinosaur...yet...

  3. I think she's talking about sports.

Shouldn't she have said "sports" then instead of "games"? Games could be Monopoly or football.

I think dirt is a hateful, cruel-spirited, small-minded person. But I can find better ways to call her terrible than by pointing out slightly unclear language in a post about inequality in pay for men and women.

Dirt is wrong about transgender issues, but she's not wrong about gender inequality existing. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

  6. Dirt that is a great question. Once again, you cut to the marrow. Just think how much money men get for playing games.

  7. I think about the types of games that involve violence themes and "ruthless competition" themes. I don't mean regular competition, but rather doing anything to win. Mostly these are portrayed as male and marketed to boys/men.

It's more thematic, and these themes get carried over into whatever profession the boy/man goes into. Certainly a "win at all costs" is associated with financial rewards for CEOs and the like. It's the themes that are heinous.

The themes of games marketed to girls, like nurturing, are devalued though they could be the salvation of our planet. If there is going to be anything left but death and destruction.
