Chaz Bono-Female Self Hater dishing out advice?

Chaz Bono, publicly declares s/he is willing to speak with Jolie/Pitt about their "tomboy" child Shiloh! Seriously??? I dont see this happening, as I dont believe Jolie is nutty enough to think there is anything wrong with her daughter, let alone have a female self hater near her child. But the audacity of Bono even bringing up Shiloh, projecting her own female self hatred onto a child she doesnt even know, is fucking disgusting!

  1. At least the comments on the article are hopeful. Seems not many are buying Chaz's obvious projection of self on to this 4 year old. This is a case in point for why so-called TGs need therapy, not surgery.

  2. //projecting her own female self hatred onto a child she doesnt even know//

That was my thought when I saw it. I mean, if female self-hating Chaz had been around when you and I were girls, what would she have said to us? After all, we preferred boys' clothes, and I don't know about you, but my closest friends were always guys. If you read what Chaz says about herself thus far, those are supposedly the two big indicators that she was "trapped in a female shell" (her words). I will say that obviously I haven't read the book and I doubt that I will, and I don't doubt that Bono has had some genuine confusion & pain and struggles with her sexuality and stuff (Cher was most unhappy when her daughter came out).

I think Bono has always been what we politely refer to as an attention whore though, and this is just another way for her to garner attention. I mean, her band failed, her career as Official Gay Spokesperson failed, her stints with reality TV failed... now she has Sundance paying attention. I wonder what's next a few years down the line... I mean the TG d00d having a biobaby has been done already, but that doens't mean it wouldn't be a "great followup" on the Oprah network.

Gallus Mag wrote a piece about Bono a few mos ago: http://gendertrender.wordpress.com/2011/01/27/worst-activist-ever-chaz-bono/

  3. again with the auto-dislike clicking from the childrenz.

come on! how can you really disagree with this!

they are really trying to erase butch women. like there is not even a possibility that butch WOMEN exist- or should exist.

There is no denying that this 'movement' is compareable to say gender NAZI'S.

your a tomboy = you must be TRANZ

  4. so telling...

Chaz on Gay Marriage quoted in September 2010: “I’ve always thought we should not call it marriage.” She prefers “domestic partnership” because “Marriage causes religious folks to freak out.”

    i mean really.

  5. Does anyone really think Chaz could form a coherent sentence sitting across the table from Jolie? I think Jolie/Pitt will be polite about it, but definately not interested in her advice.

    ReplyDelete
  6. it must finally make so much sense to chaz to be a 'straight man'. i mean what with the mom "freaking out" when she came out as lesbian, but then being "super cool" when she came out as trans.

nevermind the fact that her dad had wanted a boy and admitted that. plus that her dad was a huge supporter of The Defense of Marriage.

  8. Chaz Bono always struck me as, well, kind of dumb. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I remember seeing interviews with Chaz; she didn't seem to be a deep thinker or particularly well informed. I don't know why she was ever chosen to be a spokesperson for the lesbian and gay community. I can see how someone like Chaz would be taken in by the trans fad. She wouldn't be smart enough to question or critically analyze the trans propaganda, such as the tired old "male brain in a female body" theory. And as has been pointed out, Chaz probably likes getting the attention.

  9. What a fattie this Chaz. I suspect some women to transition just to have an acceptable social excuse to eat the whole content of their fridge in less than 20 min. Another person who is not even able to respect her own body by any means.

  10. you people are just downright hateful, vendictive, and vicious. You cannot possibly be happy with your own lives to generate this much hate towards others. I never realized this much cruelty and hate could come from the lesbian community and those who call themselves feminists.

*I think Bono has always been what we politely refer to as an attention whore

This is the new face of feminism? This is the face of lesbianism?

Wow!! how sad this is what it has all boiled down to.

  11. This is actually ridiculous. Why do they need advice on how to raise their child? Just because she's not the world's Barbie doll stereotype, why do people feel they can wade in and start implying she's gender confused? If she develops a different identity to that of her biological sex, then fine, but people need to back the fuck off, she's four, and developing her own identity. This really does smack of projection from Chaz as opposed to being genuinely interested.

Yes this is coming from a transitioning female. And I agree with the post. Is the world about to end? Probably.

Or this is the one thing that four-year-olds know everything about, gender?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Your dinosaur comparison isn't remotely accurate! Do you actually need someone to tell you female and male HUMANS are the same species. And a species which shows far less sexual dimorphism than most. Dinosaurs were a different species with FAR more physical and sexual variation.

If Chaz wasn't an FTM you wouldn't be making fun of his weight. If he still had to be an out Dyke you wouldn't be calling him a fattie. You would be embracing him as he would be a dyke. It's disgusting that you would be making fun of someones weight. Again, if he was a dyke you wouldn't be making fun of him. It's only because he is an FTM..NO if's ands or butts about it.

It just goes to show what kind of person you are...judgmental and all...Yet it's okay for a dyke to be fat but not an transman...Hmmmmmmmmm! Alrighty then!

  20. I actually can't believe they let Chaz transition/do surgery when he/she is clearly so overweight/ bordering on obese. I'm not being cruel, it's just that surely you should be reasonably physically fit before putting your body through that sort of trauma? It's only common sense. I think its an awful message to send to ftms, just shows you what money can do...

She is a true icon and I absolutely adore her. She is an amazing person...not that she would ever be reading this blog to see what I write. Then again, why would she be reading this trashy blog when she could be reading National Enquirer???? That rag is SOOOO much better! A least there is SOME truth to it....

Why are you assuming I am close minded or was attacking trans people? I was pointing out that that was a really stupid question to ask her, that's why I thought her reaction was funny. You got all defensive for nothing. I "happen to have friends who are trans" also, but that doesn't make me an authority on the subject nor does it mean I am necessarily down with transitioning - it's wrong to assume that. Just sayin'.

  26. Thanks for the apology. Yeah, it really shows her character that she was so polite to them even though they were total idiots and hassling her. I just think it's weird that they assume that because she's gay and likes wearing "traditionally male" clothes that somehow that means she would transition. It's like wha? I mean, trans people lay alot on dirt, but at least she's informed about the issues - it's easy to forget that most of mainstream society really don't have a clue. :)

  35. Let's all face it, were falling apart as a decent human species.

We have become ego-centered (thinking we can control nature because it's what I want), greed driven (I want what I want and YOU must give it to me now, no matter if it hurts others or myself), destroyers of our planet.

We are a world full of pill popin', correct-all-my-insecurities-with-surgeries, obese, lazy, tv watching, gossip obsessed, keep up with the joness', whiners. So really why are we surprised that this is happening?!

There is no honor working with what you have- not what you want. There is no sense of 'WE' anymore, only 'I'. Because we are all so damn unique and individual, special little divas, who really feel that we can and should change everything if it makes us feel better about our poor little egos.

Funny thing about all this is- this fast car to no where is driven by a white man. Believe you me, these doctors and shrinks are laughing all the way to the bank- while the women who have drank the kool-aid are actually convinced that they are 'helping', 'fixing'- broken, hurt, vicitimized people. Just like whats been expected of women since the begining of time- care takers.

It's really sad, and I don't think theres really any turning anything around.

  36. i'm actually ok as a butch lez seeing most of my butch friends transition.

it ends up leaving us butches as a 'rare breed' out there for the real lesbians who want real (butch) women. my dating pool has opened up like you wouldn't believe.

i've dated no less than 3 women so far, that came out of relationships with FTMs that are so glad to be back with a women- where they can have like equal focus of the relationship- instead of everything being solely focused on their partner's transition and changes. where they themselves get to have their own identity back as lesbian.

i don't have to argue with the ftms. you're really doing me a huge favor!

  39. When I read about Shiloh being tomboy and wanting to be called male names I thought right away some trans activist would go to the media claiming she is trans and should get some 'help'. I'm madly scared!

I'm not butch, I'm more of a tomboy and have been since I was born. I prefered boy's clothes, boy's everything (though my family wouldn't let me use/do them as much as I wanted) and I only had male friends. I'm not trans! Obviously due to our society's misoginy I had body disphoria, I wished I were born male, I hoped somehow I would grow up and become a man, yeah it was some kind of magical thinking. Thank Goodness during adolescence my attraction and love for women helped me overcome my own self hatred and realize that I could be, do and like whatever I wanted because there is no such thing as boy's stuff.

Later Feminism helped me understand everything better and love myself and women even more. Now I'm perfectly comfortable in my female body, love it SOOO much and would never do anything to change/hurt it! Was the trans bullshit more popular during the 90s I could be totally unhappy and mutilated nowadays!

I keep hoping Angelina is well informed. But I know this girl will get in touch with the trans crooked thinking and it might affect her, as well as many other girls. It is mass castration and murdering of girls, especially lesbians!

I wanna believe it will stop, but except for radical feminists (even some of them don't wanna raise their voices about it), I see the feminist movement buying it all uncritically. I feel so powerless, so sad, so hopeless... I don't even know how to express it. At least I feel better knowing that there are spaces like this blog. We can't be silent about it.

I agree entirely FL. Here is an example of that: In Australia, (where I live) they are about to hold an annual feminist conference. On one of the panels will be a highly regarded feminist who has written profusely on the misogyny behind transition, however the organizers have basically said that if she raises that topic she will be silenced. Seriously, what is becoming of feminism? I'm tired of being labeled a radical hater simply for disagreeing with the majority view. Why can't we at least discuss alternative points of view?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Because at the end of the day everyone is going to do as they please. You can't stop people from doing what they want to their body, it will just piss them off. All you can do is "inform" people on the topic without being rude. You guys call ftms immature but everyone is immature just like them. If you wanna make a change you can't full right bash the people you wanna "help".

  42. I am very suprised that they allowed Chaz to have surgery at his weight.
My wife wants a breast reduction. Not even like she is getting chest reconstruction. Just a simple reduction. She has an F cup and her back is always sore. She is about half the size of Chaz and the surgeons will not let her get the reduction unless she looses at least 25 lbs. They do not want to perform surgery on her as long as she is overweight.
Chaz was only allowed to get his reconstruction because he is

Period he is a man now and you have to accept that because thats who he is. Also i dont really know the whole story about shiloh but i think it seems like Chaz is trying to add his 2 cents in, because he has expirience growing up feeling like a boy. now i am not saying that just because Shiloh says these things now mean that s/he will transition in to a man, I am just saying that I think it is thoughtful of Chaz to try and help/give advice.

    ReplyDelete
  52. First off there are plenty of us big dykes so cut out the fatphobia stuff. That's the EASIEST way to put down Chaz...but even when she was supposedly still a 'lesbian', she was pretty feminine....or at least tomboy, but NOT Butch by any means. Her "I wanted to be a boy" is almost the same as my 'I wanted to be a boy' and so many other Butches' "I wanted to be a boy" because the boys got to do the cool things, and being raised by the hyper feminine surgery chasing Cher, and conservative Republican Sonny, the pressures for Chaz to stay feminine and not really 'butch it up' were probably incredible. It was hard enough she comes out as a Lesbian, so she's gotta be kinda a soft or andro Lesbian at most, but NOT Butch to even gain approval on ANY level...her decision to transition to male was more than likely predicated on that intense pressure and denial of ANY Butchness she may have had. If she were a 'dude', she could just be a 'dude' and get left alone. But she looks completely like a Butch Lesbian wearing the male drag that Butch Lesbians have always worn when they began to feel comfortable with themselves...now sans tits. I've seen FTM's WAY more masculine than Chaz, and beforehand, barely in the female category before transitioning...Chaz is one of those types who think becoming a 'dude' is her way to power and acceptance..and the typical narcissitic trans FTM way, as her partner, like most female partners of FTM's HATE the whole process of their LESBIAN partner taking on the worst of male behaviors and attitudes.

    ReplyDelete
  53. This is NOT a community of power at all..this DOES NOT further the cause for Butch Dykes or really any Dykes or even women....it further isolates those of us who are still Butch, and convinces those of us who were so hardcore tomboys as kids, the young tomboy girls coming up now(and effeminate boys too)that 'they really are dudes' and to avoid the pinkification and sissyfication of their lives(if you're a boy you get blue, if you're a girl you get pink, whether you like it or not) the lines are so harshly drawn at these young ages that for either sex that doesn't identify with those markers, but has more diverse interests, i.e. young tomboy girls and effeminate young boys, this must mean they REALLY ARE TRANS, and should have hormones shot into them to stop them from developing at puberty into their biological sex, and at 16 they then should be injected with hormones to be the OPPOSITE SEX, INSTEAD OF being able to explore like a Chinese menu, TRUE gender diversity, what they'd like from column A, and column B, and mix and match what fits for them, before going after surgery, hormones and the like.

The one thing I LIKED about the film, is when she shot herself with testosterone and they listed all the damaging things testosterone does to the biological female human body! This is the first time I've ever seen the truth of what testosterone actually does, and how it can potentially shorten one's life in many ways....

  54. Ok, one last thing(after having to even endure the film, and also the commentary afterwards with Rosie O'Donnell, who I do respect as genuinely herself), is that Chaz grew up with surgery being a norm in her family to remake one's self. There is probably no actress that has had more cosmetic surgery than Cher, and one singer..that being Michael Jackson who couldn't accept his alternately gendered/sexual self. So coming from a family, and from Hollywood where people are remaking themselves cosmetically through surgery all the time, this probably wasn't seen as such a huge abnormal step for Chaz, since her mother did this all the time, and those around her! And yet Chaz sounds like every narcissitic FTM we hear on Logo and Youtube as their female partner gets sadder and sadder the further they go into the transition! It is so completely narcissitic!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Chaz really isn't very bright. It was shocking to hear her give a speech once, and she'd worked for HRC for over a year, and was supposed to be a lobbyist against DOMA. Weirdly enough, during the speech, she actually had forgotten what DOMA stood for. Defense of Marriage Act signed by Clinton in the 1990s. Now I don't expect every lesbian out there to know all these initials, but she was hired by the l/g rights organization to represent them on THIS issue. So dumb is a key word here. Her partner is not a lesbian, she's a bi-woman, and Dirt has alerted us to what happens when bi-women are involved in the trans process. It does seem very attention getting to me. I wouldn't say this about all trans, but Chaz just does this stuff all the time, and our Hollywood culture of gaydom just goes along with these people.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I don't think it's fair to call anybody "dumb." I do agree with Dirt that you never see Butches transitioning, and we all know Chaz was never a Butch. I was wondering if one reason for that may be because those women who transition never can really pass as male or even as really androgenous(God knows why that's important for some people.)I guess Chaz can pass now as a more androgenous woman.

Gah. I hate this hollywood crap for all kids.

So, Shiloh wants to wear shirts and shorts like her brothers and likes to be called John?

In my trained opinion... NORMAL. She is mimicking the older children in her life, all kids do that. It's how they learn. Her perception of her own gender will be pretty solid at age four, but "wanting what the other kids have" or sibling-worship is completely normal. Good on her parents for letting her dress in a way she wants to, and which is completely appropriate for a little girl.

I think Chaz Bono should talk to Shiloh if and when she wants to have a conversation with him about gender.

And if the Jolie-Pitt family are concerned about some of the ways Shiloh is expressing herself they have the money for some very qualified child psychologists. (note: dressing like a boy and wanting a different name is not concerning. Were she hurting herself or behaving in inappropriate ways, then I'd be concerned.)

  59. There is nothing pathological or wrong with Shailoh, and everything messed up about Chaz. Chaz should never ever be allowed near small animals, never mind perfectly healthy and normal children in order to armchair diagnose their alleged gender issues from her position of abundant expertise and credibility on all things gender and trans. Not to mention that she is hardly a model of mental health and stability.

    Run away Shailoh!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Doesn't look like anyone wants advice from Chaz. In a paper here in Germany it said Jolie found it laughable that anyone would think shiloh, who's not even 5 years old yet, is in need of help with an identity crisis because she likes wearing certain clothes.

  62. Shiloh is a little cutie pie, and because of the likes of you who are hating on Chaz, if it comes later that Shiloh is transgender, it does no service to Chaz for him to be talking to Brad and Jolie about Shiloh now since people like you are probably going to end up blaming Chaz for the outcome.

Just saying I guess I do agree a little. I'd stay out of it if I were Chaz, but I don't know, sometimes famous people will just go wherever they can next, as the media offers the chances, I suppose.

I just hope Shiloh grows up happy, whoever she is. It's ok to be a masculine woman and a tomboy. Even if Shiloh grows out of being 'boyish' and becomes like a betty-crocker-rocker-mom feminine lady, that's OK too as long it's what she wants. Who knows?! She's a human being and it would be easiest to just encourage healthy self expression, and self respect, and critical analysis of people's feelings.

  63. Jolie is more than capable of raising her kids, she's very open about things and has even had long-term affairs with women, etc. and I'm sure she's raising them without rigid gender stereotypes (which Chaz personifies.)Is Chaz even a parent?

  64. Chaz is not only a self hater s/he is a misogynist. I was watching him on oprah and his girlfriend said the T made him more aggressive. Basically she became abusive to her girl friend. I really don't get why the girl friend is even sticking around. She signed on with Chaz to be in a lesbian relationship now Chaz is a man. That would be a real deal breaker for any lesbian because it kind of beats the point of being a lesbian. I really think women who tranz to men are trying to get ahead in a male dominated world and are nothing more than women haters deep down inside.
