Lesbian Only and Lesbian Student Only Orgs

I spent several hours yesterday searching Lesbian/Student Lesbian only organizations and found none. I will continue to look and if I do find any or if you happen across any email me them and I will keep that list at the side. But while searching and coming up empty, my searches werent a total bust, I found out that according to wiki, Audre Lorde is now a queer poet and activist! Oh really, does the deceased LESBIAN poet and activist Audre Lorde know this? Does she also know her name is being used for this "project"...???
Using a LESBIAN activist's name, claiming to be for the "queer" alphabet soup, yet its front page picture clearly illustrates just what this "project" is all about: TRANS.

The Audre Lorde Project is another deceptive organization utilizing a famous black LESBIAN for its deceptive needs.

If you are interested in helping lesbians, do NOT donate your lesbian time or lesbian money to this "project". This is another org. who needs to alter their name to reflect their true goals.

  1. Following your articles, I did the same research online too on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LGBT_rights_organizations
And I come to the same conclusion as you do. The NCLR was the only one remaining but now it is for gay males transFTM...Lesbians advocacy and activism is officially eradicated on planet earth...

  3. I wonder if there are any Women's orgs left that don't spend a preponderance of their time fighting for, as Monty Python so eloquently put it "a Man's right to be a woman". I mean, violence against women is now no longer allowed to be an issue because violence against wanna-be women is worse, more oppressive and WAY more important!

  4. @Dirt, I know but I mean lesbians .org are dead, we were screwed* :(

*by all the queer bullshit, the FTM foes and the gay males domination.

  5. OLOC.org for older lesbians

  6. Old Lesbians Organizing for Change (OLOC) looks pretty good. Their website is at www.oloc.org
You have to be over 60 to join though, so I'll have to wait a few years.

  7. Dirt, could you also list lesbian themed books so I may add to the very few in my library? I'm looking for fictional books.

    Thanks

  8. Hi dirt,

I cross-posted this and am sending you the link. Let me know if there's other information you'd like for me to include in the post.

And thanks for alerting people to this.

  10. Not even one? That's so depressing.. I hate seeing the lesbian community crushed under the GQBTLetc banner.. under queer tyranny..

I'm seriously considering starting up some sort of lesbian only club - a book club probably, something far from the gross bar scene, and probably based online because I can't think of a way to safely advertise it where I live. I guess I have this probably not too irrational fear that it'll probably attract men, as anything with the word "lesbian" seems to.

  11. Lily,

Perhaps we could start an online lesbian only book club? The members would agree on a book to read and agree on a time frame to read it then discuss it in sections?

  15. Unfortunately, ning.com is now a paid service. So it could be done, but someone would have to agree to bear the cost. They deleted all the social networks that were set up for free the past few years. :(

  16. Dirt, thanks, I would love to help out with something like that. I'm working on some web design ideas. The more people involved the merrier! :))

  17. If you're looking for a forum type setting for the book club, you could always try Google Groups. It's free, and the layout's not half bad!

  18. The Lesbian Herstory Archives has maintained their mission to be just about collecting lesbian stuff. I'm sure they've gotten dragged into bullshit, but they have stood their ground as far as I know.

  19. Lesbian Connection is the ONLY magazine I subscribe to, and it has kept it's focus and purpose for bio female Lesbians only....(written in the back of every issue).

Michigan Womyn's Festival still has as it's intent in it's policy to stay womon born womon only, and that has been said again by Lisa Vogel in "Lesbian Connection", though there's no enforcement procedure, just the intent.

Beyond that....the Adykes list in the East Bay, an online list of Lesbian and Lesbian oriented events by and for bio female Lesbians only, and only bio female Lesbians can be on that list.

Otherwise every single formerly Lesbian or lesbian oriented or even generically 'women's' group which used to be Lesbian focused is now all 'women and trans' either side of trans too. In other words: sold out.

There are smaller groups that may have specific focuses that are not sold out but they are not widely advertised. All our women's/lesbian bookstores are gone in the Bay Area.
